Birdshill Nursing Home

December 2015

Last Friday a few children from year 5 walked down to Birds Hill nursing home. As soon as we arrived there, we found it was very hot, so we took off our coats and jumpers. Slowly, we walked in (feeling a bit nervous yet excited).

The old people there were very joyful to see us. A man from a museum came to show some artefacts from different countries. Quickly, the man pulled out a fake dragon-making us jump out of our skins! After a few minutes we got up and started to talk to the lovely old people who were there. Excitedly, we went round and talked to some very wonderfully kind people.

The museum-man then gave out some things from China to have a look at. As we went round, we talked to some people. We told them what we thought and asked them what they thought of the fascinating objects. We talked to a person called Berty (one of the people there) and she showed us a lit up wall of Autumn leaves, trees and a beautiful sunset behind her.

Later, the man from the museum took out some tambourines and we shook along to the music while guessing the song. While he was playing the music we went and talked to a man called Ron (who was very funny).

Soon it was time to go so we said our goodbyes and we went down stairs. Mr Howard told us that we had been very good. The wonderful staff there then offered some chocolate, but we needed permission from our parents before we could eat it.

As we walked out, a lady who was very sweet stepped out onto the balcony and waved goodbye, that put a smile on our faces, what a lovely way to end it!
