Chain Reaction Success

Chain Reaction Science Week – Success!

Thank you to all the parents/carers who supported their children in making their chain reaction mechanisms and attending our exhibitions during our whole school Science Week.  The chain reactions were fantastic! The children had a super time joining up their master pieces, testing and improving them. They developed skills of cooperation and communication, perseverance, resilience and problem solving. They learnt about different forces that made their chain reactions work, such as pushes and pulls, transfer of energy, momentum, potential kinetic  energy, gravitational energy, magnetic energy and electrical energy. We will now take ten of the children’s mechanisms to Carter Community School in July, where we will be linking the chain reactions up with other schools in Poole and Bournemouth to create the biggest chain reaction yet!

‘It was the best thing ever because we all learnt to come together and we never gave up’.  (Klaudia 4Ho)

‘Science day was a blast and we all had amazing chain reactions!’ (Layla 5B)

‘So wonderful to see all the amazing designs and ideas.’ (Parent)

‘It was a fantastic day. The children’s chain reactions were just brilliant!’ (Teacher)

Below, Mrs Mills proudly presents our chain reaction Science Week ideas at the Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT) International Conference in Belfast (10th June).
