Competition Time

As you may know, last year saw the school’s first ever visit to the Educational Centre at the Palace of Westminster.

We are very pleased to say that we will have the opportunity to repeat this fantastic experience as part of the work we do as a school on British Values. The date of the visit is THURSDAY 1st DECEMBER 2016.  Unfortunately, this date does clash with the Lighthouse concert on the evening of the same day; this is unavoidable due to the very high demand for places at the Educational Centre.

As we can only take 12 pupils on the visit itself, we will again be asking the children to demonstrate their CREATIVITY by making a presentation to our panel on the life and influence of a famous politician from any historical era.

The rules are as follows:

  • 10 minutes maximum.

  • No Powerpoint.

  • Y6 children only.

  • No pairs or groups.

  • Those who are successful will be required to complete further (extra) work before and after the visit itself.

  • The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The keyword here really is CREATIVITY

Successful candidates last year created video interviews in period costume, used cakes to explain apartheid, employed an iPhone to create a “talking teddy bear George Galloway” and travelled backwards and forwards through time to explain the life of Nehru.

The visit is sure to be heavily oversubscribed and so please note the advice above and the fact that the panel’s decision is final before commencing any work.

Dates, times and costings will be sent to successful applicants once the presentations have been concluded; we will aim to start the process of judging the presentations early in the second half of the autumn term.

Please contact Mr Howard (preferably via email) if you require any further information.
