6. Conservative Party (Candidate never turned up)

On the 28th of April at 19:30 at St Mary's Church a group of St Mary's pupils went to see a hustings with several political parties joining in.

The likes of Phillip Eades and David Young were there to participate.

Our Priest Father Mark welcomed us to the evening and then our Deacon Nick was the compere.

Deacon Nick began by telling us about Robert Syms not turning up and declining the invite to come.

Mark Howell of the Poole People Party began by telling us about himself and living in Poole; He went on to say about the issues in Poole.

David Young of UKIP then started by saying how he was concerned about the European Common Market, and that small businesses were getting strangled, and he went on saying how UKIP would leave the EU.

Phillip Eades, of the Liberal Democrats, started by saying how he had been the Mayor of Poole for a few years, and how he wants to protect our environment and how we need to build more houses.

Adrian John of the Green Party then started by mentioning how he wanted to introduce spirituality into Government.

A man named Mark asked a question on how they will address our debt pile, and another man then asked about how they would pay for stopping austerity measures.

David Young had a go at replying to the question Mark had asked; he was talking about our debt, and how we need to eliminate our ninety billion deficit, he went on to say how we could then give more money to the NHS, now that is something that we need.

All of the party's agreed that we need to save money £££!

During Adrian John's conversation, he lost his train of thought.

We then had questions from the kids and teenagers; according to Mark Howell, litter in schools is the Councils issue not the Government's, and he also thinks with a strong opinion, that 16 year olds should be able to vote.

Adrian John thought that schools were desperate for money, and that London schools get £7,000 per child, but schools in Poole only get only £4,000 per child, now that is unfair.

It was then time for another question; Phillip Eades went on talking about being strong on how we spent our money, and he had a strong opinion on religious freedom.

The mood on the hustings got bright and dark through moments but David Young tried to put a bright tint on a slightly dark question.

Mark Howell said how it broke his heart how the war in Syria and Iraq carried on.

Then it was time for another couple of questions; one on tax, another on wind farms.

20:55, the hustings was nearly at an end. David Young, the UKIP representative, is speaking on how UKIP are against wind farms, but on the other hand Phillip Eades thinks that wind farms would be ideal in England.

The hustings was now at an end; David Young was trying to persuade us to vote UKIP, Adrian John was talking about living wages and how we shouldn't have nuclear power; finally Phillip Eades explained his anger about Robert Syms not turning up.

That’s it people the hustings is over- each party was balanced and gave each of their opinion fairly.

Now time for the election…
