St Mary’s has a history dating back to 1850. It has been situated at its current site in Devon Road since 1967 and has grown to become the two form entry primary school that it is today. The school caters for 420 children aged between 4 and 11 years old offering a broad and balanced curriculum. Our aim is to enable the child to develop fully, gaining a rich educational experience in a happy and caring atmosphere.

St Mary’s is an academy and part of Plymouth CAST – a partnership of schools across Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. The school works closely with St Edwards RC/CE Comprehensive School. With them, it offers the benefits of a Catholic Church School, which will be best achieved through the shared religious commitment of parents, parish and school community. The School serves the parishes of St Mary’s and St Anthony’s.

St Mary's Catholic Primary School is a 2 form entry school, spanning Key Stage 1 (Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2) and Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6).

It is a feeder school for the St Edwards RC/CE VA School (secondary school), normally transferring into Year 7 at age 11.
