Mathletics Competition by Elisha and Sara, Y5

On 8/10/15 we traveled to Longfleet Primary school for a mathletics competition between year 5 and 6. Two people in St.Mary’s would verse two people in Longfleet. Everybody got two turns each. Year 5 versed Year 5 and Year 6 versed Year 6. At the end it was one Year 6 versing one Year 6. It was a tough competition but in the end we got there. Longfleet beat us 58 when we got 56.

We had a great time and really enjoyed showing how fast we could be at answering mental questions.

Paulton’s Park by Zack, Y4

Sit back and get comfy, I have an exciting Year 4 adventure to tell you about.

It all began one Thursday morning when we boarded a coach and travelled for 45 minutes to Paulton’s park yes … PAULTON’S PARK.

We arrived safely and were met by two ladies who worked at Paulton’s Park.

They guided us around showing and explaining in detail how the rollercoaster worked, their mechanisms the speed they travel at and the force.

Gravity was in full force! After our tour we were able to try the rides out for ourselves.

Well… I have never seen so many different faces being pulled in one go! Some of joy, and some of fear (Miss Howard’s) and some of sheer excitement.

Following a day of astonishing information and fun, we had to sadly return to the coach where 60 exhausted children staff and parent helpers made their way back to St. Mary’s school.

Fact: Did you know Isaac Newton was the founder of force and how it was measured?

Question: Do you know what unit force is measured in?
