Safer internet day

This year’s theme is ‘Play your part for a better internet!’ and provides an opportunity for our school to make the most of the positive opportunities offered online, whilst giving young people the resilience, skills, knowledge and support they need to navigate any online risks they may come across. It is important that parents and carers are also engaged and informed to ensure their children can get the most out of the internet.

This year:

FS2 – Foundation are going to do ‘Smartie the Penguin’ discussing being safe online relevant to their age.

Year 1 – Will be looking at the poster with the SMART information and watching UK safer internet day video about  making a pledge. We will write down one thing on the #shareaheart sign that you can do today to help make the internet a kinder place.

Year 2 – Will be designing a poster to inform others how to stay safe online.

Year 3 – Are looking at keeping ourselves and each other safe online. This will culminate in us writing our rights and responsibilities for internet use, after much discussion! We will also focus on SMART to reinforce to the children how to stay safe on the internet.

Year 4 – Are having discussions on internet safety followed by creating factsheets and posters.

Year 5 – Will be having discussions on safe internet practice (personal information – how much to share and seeking adult permission) when contacting our French partner school, permission needed and seeking adult help when searching for French websites, Youtube audio and videos in French.

Year 6 – Will be writing an agony aunt style letter from someone who has blundered online. The reply to the letter will mention SMART as the basis for the answer.
