Sarah Adams, our Plymouth CAST RE Advisor, will be leaving her post in the summer after working and supporting all the schools in the diocese for over 15 years. She has worked closely with our RE Leader, supported all new teachers who work in our school and regularly visited us to get to know our children.

In 2010 Pope Benedict visited the UK. Many of our schools were represented at Twickenham where he spoke to our young people. On this occasion he told the young people that they were all called to be saints! This is God's call to each of us. Pope Francis calls us to proclaim the joy of the gospel.

With all this in mind, instead of a leaving gift Sarah has requested that we support her in raising money by encouraging the children to be a saint for the day! For Sarah's part, she will walk The Saints’ Way in Cornwall over 2 days (60 miles!), praying all the way for our schools.

On the 29th of June we will celebrate the feast day Ss Peter and Paul. We are asking the children to come dressed as a saint for the day in return for a donation which we will donate to Sarah’s very special charity. The money raised will go to a charity in Africa which supports widows and orphans. The charity is W.O.R.K. http://www.work-kenya.org/

From the website you will be able to see what a fantastic job they are doing with amazing results.

During the day we will collapse the timetable and encourage the children to be a saint for the day. There will be a whole school liturgy. And each year group will be encouraged to look at different saints... do drama, art, etc. and celebrate the different lives. The PTA have agreed to purchase ice lollies for the children which we will enjoy in the afternoon as part of our celebration.
