Conclusion of Political Competition + British Values

It has been an absolute privilege to have witnessed two days of the presentations. Both the turn out and the standard of work have exceeded my expectations; the children have been superb.

We heard about the lives of political leaders from all corners of the world, engaged in some deep discussions around serious issues and had some fun mocking our leaders in the process.

Sadly, the demand for this trip far outweighed our capacity to meet it and, inevitably, there have been some people left disappointed.  As I said to the group when announcing the results, there really was no easy choice to make; it was very, very hard to pick a final set of participants.

However, there will be more opportunities for everyone who entered the competition to be involved in further activities in the Spring term.  For example, some of the children have come up with the idea of a “British Values Day” which will involve a celebration of:

DEMOCRACY      RULE OF LAW     INVIDUAL LIBERTY    MUTUAL RESEPCT

within the school and our wider community.

Once again can I reiterate my thanks for your support with these extra-curricular projects;  the learning coming from this has been a pleasure to observe.

Please continue to visit the website for updates on British Values at St. Mary’s.
