School Lunches

We provide hot school meals at a cost of £2.50 per day. They must be paid for online in advance.
All orders need to be placed by 9am on the Wednesday before the week being ordered.
As you have probably seen from supermarket shelves and on the news, there are severe supply issues across the country and these particularly affecting the food supply chain. It's a function of a great deal of European labour not returning after Covid and Brexit causing shortages in people from picking the crops through to getting it to the factories and then processing it in the factories. This has caused many firms to reduce their lines.
This has then been compounded by a lack of drivers due to again, European drivers not returning, older drivers retiring and then no new drivers coming through as no one did their test during Covid.
This really is a perfect storm and is wreaking havoc on the food industry.
So, we have already had issues getting different items in for the menu and this problem is definitely going to continue. So far, we have been able to find alternatives and get them in on time. But it's only a matter of time when we will not be able to get what's on the menu. We should be able to have a couple of days notice. Sometimes we are not finding out until literally the delivery has come and an item isn't there. We are extending our turnaround times to give us more time.
So this is just a heads up that this is going to happen. The big issue is going to be allergen issues. We may be able to find an alternative product, but the gluten, egg or dairy free aspect won't be the same. We can make sure we can provide alternate meals for those children on those days.
Please bear with Forerunner at this difficult time, we will endeavour to make you aware of any changes asap.

Free School Meals
Children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 are automatically entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals funded by the Government. It may, however, be possible for the school to get extra money in the form of Pupil Premium which will be used in line with our PP Policy as published on our website. Your child can benefit from extra opportunities and reduced rates on some school trips if they are entitled to FSM.

Every year thousands of pupils don’t get the free school meals they are entitled to as often, parents do not realise they are entitled or are discouraged by the potential bureaucracy and personal information requirements. Children who eat well during the day concentrate better in lessons and sitting down to a meal together is an important part of the children’s social education.
If any of the following apply to you, then your family may be entitled to free school meals;
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
Income-based Employment and Support Allowance
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Working Tax Credit 'run-on' – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Universal Credit – if you apply on or after 1st April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get).
