Year 5 Hockey Tournament – Wednesday 29th March 2017

Two teams of Year 5 boys travelled out to St Mary’s RC School in Swanage this afternoon to take part in a Hockey Tournament against other local schools. Each game lasted eight minutes with five team members playing at any one given time.

Both teams played well, winning most of their games, resulting in getting through to the finals and semi-finals; both of which were against St Mary’s RC School in Swanage; having already knocked out the teams from Sandford St Martin’s C.E. School and Corfe Castle Primary School.

Our Team A eventually came in fourth place whilst our Team B came overall second and came home wearing silver medals.

Mrs. Martin and I were very impressed by the good sportsmanship and skills demonstrated throughout all their matches. The ‘man-of-the-day’ was awarded to Rory Barrett-Mead who scored six goals for our school during the afternoon.

The organiser of the tournament complimented our boys on the improvement that they have made since our last friendly match. Considering the minimal time, we have had to prepare for the tournament, all of them deserve recognition.

We hope that we will soon have a girls’ team that can also compete at this level!
