Applying for a School Place

You have the right to express a preference for the school you would prefer your child to attend.

Children starting in Reception-Year 6 before September 2020: See Admissions Policy 2019-20 (In year Admissions)

Children starting in Reception in September 2020: See Admissions Policy 2020-21.

The published closing dates for September 2020 entry are:

  • Admission to Reception – 15 January 2020
  • Transfer to Junior and Middle School – 15 January 2020
  • Transfer to Secondary School – 31 October 2019

You must apply to the Local Authority where you live, even if the schools you are applying for are in another area.

First, Infant, Junior, Primary and Middle Schools
Offer letters posted to parents/carers on National Offer Day by Local Authority
16 April 2020
Deadline for acceptance of offer by parent/carer
30 April 2020
Deadline for lodging an on-time admission appeal
16 May 2020
Appeal Hearing Dates
During week commencing 22nd June 2020
Late appeals and in-year appeals will be heard in-line with the deadlines set out in the School Admission Appeals Code.
If you wish to appeal against the decision not to offer your child a place, your request to appeal should be made in writing, using the appropriate form, and addressed to:

Your request should be made within 14 days of the date of the notification letter (by the date on the reply slip).
